Explanation and Links

Extra Credit: 5 points added to a test grade. All or nothing credit.  Total available for the semester is 25.

*extra credit must be handed in by the due date. Once the due date has passed, that extra credit is no longer available.

All extra credit must be handwritten.

Unit 1: očhethi šakowiŋ Extra Credit. Due on or before Thursday, February 12 by 3:15

On Youtube, take notes while watching the video Rising Voices (Rising Voices / Hótȟaŋiŋpi - Revitalizing the Lakota Language) about Lakota language revitalization and then summarize what you learned in 2 full single-spaced handwritten pages. The first half of your response should be a summary of what you learned, and the second half should be your response to the ideas and information presented (i.e., what do you think about it?). No outside sources.

Unit 2 : Neolithic Revolution. Due on or before Thursday, march 12 by 3:15

Gobekli Tepe. Read the article and summarize in one page what was discovered at this archeological site. For page two, write about what you found to be most interesting about this discovery and what it tells us about the development of human society and civilization.  Must be handwritten.

Unit 3: Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment Extra Credit. Due on or before  Friday, April 17 , 3:15.

1) On Youtube, watch "Albert Einstein and Theory of relativity Full Documentary HD". Video link. Take notes while watching. You should write down ten things you learn. Then write a one page, handwritten summary of the video. 350 words minimum.

Unit 4: Industrialization, Globalization Extra Credit. Due on or before  Friday, May 1, at 3:15
Read and annotate  Part 1: Is Population Growth Good or Bad for the Economy? Written response: The first page should be a summary of what you learned from the article, and the second page should be your evaluation of whether or not there is a correlation (causal connection) between population growth and economic growth or decline. 2 full pages handwritten, single-spaced. No outside sources. Along with written response, you must turn in print out of article with your annotations.

Unit 5: Genocide, Holocaust, Rwanda Extra Credit due on or before Thursday, May 21, by 3:15..

Watch the 2 MINUTE VIDEO and then read and annotate "Inside Chinese camps thought to be detaining a million Muslim Uighurs". Written response: The first page should be a summary of what you learned from the short video and the article, and the second page should be your evaluation of whether or not China is using concentration camps. 2 pages single-spaced, handwritten No outside sources. Along with written response, must turn in print out of article with your annotations.

NOTE: You may also substitute, with my approval, an extra credit of your own creation for any of the above extra credits. Total number of extra credit projects cannot exceed the number available above at a given date. See Mr. Howard first before starting in order to get it approved. Due by Friday, May 23.
