Yilin Sun, tenured professor who received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics/Curriculum & Instruction from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education ( O.I.S.E), University of Toronto, Canada. She has close to 40 years of experience in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Languages as a MA-TESL teacher trainer, a researcher, a classroom teacher, teacher supervisor, and program leader with a variety of higher educational institutions in China, Canada and U.S.A.

She loves teaching and working with students, faculty and staff. She has worked with Seattle Colleges for 28 years. Her teaching experience include teaching English to speakers of other languages, TESOL teacher training, and assessment and curriculum development. In 2021, she received the English Language Program 30@30 Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of State. The award recognizes Yilin Sun as one of a select group of thirty Specialists who have made a lasting impact on the Specialist Program and on the TESOL field since 1991, building English teaching capacity abroad and bolstering mutual understanding through English language education. Dr. Sun is a former president of TESOL International Association (2014-15, www.tesol.org) as the first bilingual Chinese- English speaking female Asian TESOL professional serving as president of TESOL in TESOL's 50 years history. She also received a Fulbright Senior Scholar award from the U.S. Dept. of State in 2011-2012 (https://www.cies.org/program/fulbright-us-scholar-program) working as a visiting professor at National Taiwan Normal University and Fulbright Taiwan. Dr. Sun is an author and co-author of books, book chapters, and research papers in refereed professional journals and has frequently given plenary and featured speeches at national and international conferences.
