Color splashing is a very basic photo editing technique that is used to emphasis certain features of a photograph.
By leaving certain areas of a photo colored, and filling the rest of the photo with grayscale, you can highlight certain parts of an image to make them stand out. Chances are, you have probably seen a color splashed photo before for senior pictures, weddings, and ultimately many on Instagram. Here is a few examples.

In this class we are going to use Adobe Photoshop.
Step 1: Choose a photo that will work well with a color splash. Look for repetitive objects or one that has a "point of interest"
Step 2: Open your color photo in Adobe Photoshop. File/open/Select picture/open
Step 3: Go to "Layer" and click on duplicate layer. Name that layer...black and white
Step 4: "as background copy" is OK. press "OK".
Step 5: Go to "Image" "Adjustments" "Hue/Saturation" and adjust Saturation to -100. Your image will appear in greyscale.
Step 6: Zoom in (Ctrl + zooms) (Ctrl - zooms out) Use you eraser (change the brush size as needed) and erase any area that you want to be in color.
Step 7: Go to "File" then "Save as" and name your photo. Save in "My color splash photos" folder. The format should be JPEG and the quality needs to be MAXIMUM 12.
