We have new reading logs for homework! Last week, the students and I went over all the aspects of the new log, so they should be familiar. Here are some highlights:
1. Reading should be 30-40 minutes per night, which would be 150 minutes total per week. This is due every Monday. Reading times may go up again before the end of the year.
2. Students must read at read 3 times a week, they cannot save all 150 minutes for one night.
3. Instead of a summary, students must answer comprehension questions (at least 3 per week). These comprehension questions are listed on the back of their logs. They are differentiated by their reading level. They must write the numbered question they choose, and answer the question in at least two complete sentences.
4. Students must hand in their original reading log every Monday. They cannot write it on a scrap paper.
5. If students do not follow these guidelines, their reading log will be count as a missed homework, even if it is partially filled in.
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
