Suicide Prevention Training
This module is designed for school personnel who are required to have training on prevention and postvention of suicide. This module was designed to meet the requirements of House file SF 2113.

Mental Health / Suicide Prevention & Postvention
On March 29th 2018, Senate File 2113 was signed by the governor requiring that all Iowa school districts provide staff training and protocols on suicide prevention / postvention. The goal of these trainings and protocols are to identify students with adverse childhood experiences and to develop strategies that “mitigate toxic stress response” based on nationally recognized practices. Woodward Community-Based Services: Woodward Community-Based Services offers school-based behavioral and mental health services available to students during the school day. Services are provided at the school setting. Take Medicaid, Wellmark, and Title 19. Sliding scale / private pay also available.

Next Step Counseling Services: Next Step Counseling Services offers school-based behavioral and mental health services available to students during the school day. Take most private insurance plans, Title 19, Child Mental Health Waiver, and BHIS Services. Sliding scale / private pay also available.

Polk County Crisis & Advocacy Services: Polk County Crisis & Advocacy Services work to provide services for students and families that have been victims of violent crimes (sexual assault, homicide, and crisis response – suicide). This includes providing crisis counseling, immediate needs assessments, connection with resources, critical incident debriefing, and acting as a liaison between the family and other agencies. All conversations with victims are kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone regardless of age.
