Course Description
Prerequisite: Successful completion (passing grade) of Computer Dimensions 1
This course builds on the concepts explored in Computer Dimensions 1.
Students will continue to build keyboarding proficiency, expand their knowledge of computer software products and learn the basics of coding and/or game design. Students refine research skills through project-based coursework.
The course content will be updated regularly to reflect new technologies.
Main Objectives
Perform research using a variety of advanced Internet searching skills and apply to projects.
Create business documents and destop publishing projects using advanced word processing skills.
Apply graphics and advanced formatting styles to word processing projects.
Design and demonstrate a PowerPoint project that may include all multi-media tools; such as text, clip art, sound, animation, slide transitions, video, hyperlinks, action buttons, and timing.
Apply spreadsheet formulas and functions, modify and customize a spreadsheet, and create a graph from a spreadsheet. Apply spreadsheet applications to real world situations.
Existing individual keyboarding ability will be diagnosed so that appropriate skill building activities can be used to achieve maximum keyboarding efficiency and effectiveness.
Exhibit proper technique and procedures while developing keyboarding skills.
Identify keyboarding problem areas and practice keyboarding drills to improve correct keyboarding technique.
Work to improve speed and accuracy with keyboarding drills (application software or websites)
Keyboard 45 words per minute with 2 or fewer errors on a 1-minute timed writing.
Keyboard 40 words per minute with 2 or fewer errors on a 1-minute timed writing.
Discriminate between responsible and irresponsible uses of technology.
Learn to think sequentially and spatially as it relates to computer science/programming.
Proofread ALL documents and use editing and formatting features.
