Have you ever thought of the following engineering-type questions?
- Is there a better rocket structure or technique for heavy loads?
- Can something be designed to help increase Wi-Fi connections?
- Do certain construction methods on an aircraft's wing effect it's flight?
- Can a robot be designed to help with certain tasks for the elderly or handicapped?
When you start your project, you will need to begin with a meaningful question or idea like the ones above. Next, you will follow some simple investigative guidelines, talk to the Intel ISEF Rules Wizard, and reference the Intel ISEF Student Handbook. Finally, through a selection process, your your project could be entered in the St. Mary's County Science and Engineering Fair in February. If you may win prizes and cash!
If you are not quite sure what to do with the question that you want to answer, talk to your teachers and/or parents. They can help you get started and can be great resources throughout your research. If you need to know more about a science project verses an engineering project check out the Parallel Process, Judging Criteria or the Table of Contents pages.
