Consumer Interview

Before we design our game, we need to know who our targeted audience is. The type of game a designer designs depends on who is going to play it.

We are fortunate to have an actual client for our game. We will be creating a game for 7th and 8th grade students here at LOMS! Sometimes designers have constraints because they work in a different city, state or even country than their client. We have a similar constraint because 7th grade classes meet at times that are different from ours.

No fear! Google Forms are here!

We will create a Google Form which is an online survey. Our clients will answer questions in the survey to tell us what kind of games they like and what topics they are interested in that would be fun in a game.

Brainstorm Questions With Your Design Team

Before you create your Form, you will need to prepare the questions you will ask on the Form survey.

Here are some questions you may want to ask yourself as you design an interview for your client.

1. Who is our target audience? How old are they? Are they students or adults?

2. How can we get players engaged? What do they like? What gets them to play games?

During your brainstorming session, you can use whiteboards/paper to rapid-fire write ideas. Then put your questions in a collaborative Doc and share it with your teacher. You may want to assign someone to act as a project manager to keep the brainstorming session on track and one or TWO people to act as a scribe/secretary to write the questions in the Doc.

Peer Collaboration and Teamwork

You are working in a team for this activity. At the end of this activity, you will use the form below to evaluate your contribution to the project as well as your team members. Please be honest. If you give everyone an A and they don't deserve one, I will know and this may count against you.
