Game-Storming
The Challenge
Your team has received a contract to create a board game for a classroom. Now it's time to brainstorm a concept for your board game!
Time: 15 minutes
Materials:
Stickie Notes
Paper for ideas
Things to consider:
Everyone's ideas should be included. There are NO BAD IDEAS.
You may base games on other existing games (e.g., develop a fancy version of tic tack toe)
Games may be based on science or social studies topics.
The game ideas should be "FEASIBLE," meaning this is something that your group could actually create.
Team Roles
Project Manager:
Keep the momentum moving.
Make sure we stick to the rules like no criticism.
Make sure everyone gets a turn and all voices are heard.
Look for similar ideas and try to group them
Scribe(s):
Write down all ideas.
Number the ideas so we know how many we have.
Write down everything! EVERYTHING!
*It is good to have two scribes because a lot is going to happen fast.
Reflection (to be submitted)
What went well?
What were some of the stumbling blocks that got in the way?
What could make it run more smoothly next time?
Was there criticism? Was it hard not to judge, especially your own ideas?
Did you self-censor? Did you think of an idea but you didn't contribute it. Write about that experience.
Evaluate your contribution as well as your teammates by giving each person a letter grade.
Peer Collaboration and Teamwork
You are working in a team for this activity. At the end of this activity, you will evaluate your contribution to the project as well as your team members. Please be honest. If you give everyone an A and they don't deserve one, I will know and this may count against you.
