Regular Session Tuition and Fees: There is one fee for Regular Session students who take up to 6 units in a semester, and another fee for students who take more than 6 units in a semester. Thus, Regular Session fees are based on the number of units a Regular Session student chooses to take each semester. Regular Session fees include mandatory SJSU fees. See the University’s fee information.
Special Session Tuition: starting Fall 2026, each unit will cost $398, with a 5% increase each fall through fall 2028.

Financing for this program may be available through grants, scholarships, loans (federal and private) and institutional financing plans. The median amount of debt for program graduates is shown below:

Most clinical affiliates provide trainee stipends, which help offset educational and living expenses during the training year. Historically, graduates of the program have reported minimal educational debt associated with program participation.
The program is designed to be completed in one year (52 weeks). Historically, 100% of enrolled students complete the program within the expected time frame. California currently faces a statewide shortage of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, and historically 100% of program graduates obtain employment in the clinical laboratory field.
