Snow Day/Remote Activities

E-Learning Activities for Second Grade

THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE SUGGESTIONS FOR TIMES WE ARE CLOSED FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS (snow days, etc).

Please choose one activity from each subject, for each day we are not in school:

Language Arts:

• • IXL Language Arts

  • Read a story and draw/write about your favorite part.

  • Draw a picture, label it, and write a story about it.

  • Practice counting/colors in Spanish.

  • Make a project. Draw a picture of it. Write about it. (First, next, last)

  • Epic

Spelling:

• • Write your words in alphabetical order.

  • Write your words in rainbow colors.

  • Use each word in a sentence.

  • Write your words with red vowels and blue consonants.

  • Use bubble letters to write your words.

  • Write your words with a rhyming word next to them.

  • Use capital letters to write your words.

  • Write your words three times each.

Math:

• • IXL Math

  • Flashcards

  • Practice telling time.

  • Practice counting money.

  • Measure objects around the house.

  • Play math games (using dice, computer, etc.)

Social Studies:

• • Read about a famous American.

  • Make a list of laws that are good for our country.

  • Explore a map or atlas.

  • Draw and label your own city.

Science:

• • Choose science-related books to read on Epic.

  • Help cook a meal.

  • Conduct your own experiment with something that interests you.

Religion:

• • Practice your prayers.

  • Read a story from the Bible, and draw/write about your favorite part.

  • Do a kind deed for someone at home.

  • Make a card for someone who is sick or sad.

  • Practice the responses for mass.
