2nd/3rd: Ukuleles

Let's have an uke jam!

Your student will be assigned an ukulele for use at school during music classes. This will be your student's personal ukulele during the year, and the only other person handling it will be me, helping with tuning from time to time. Both 2nd and 3rd grade have their own set of ukuleles for their classes, so the instruments will not be shared between the two classes. This ukulele will remain at school, unless your child is quarantined, during which time you will be allowed to take the ukulele home.

We will be using the Ukulele Pathways curriculum to supplement Game Plan for our ukulele learning. UP is part of the Purposeful Pathways music curriculum, and is based on the same national standards as GP, so the books match up very well and will scaffold alongside each other.

If you would like to purchase an ukulele for your student to play and practice at home, go right ahead! I would suggest one that is made of actual wood instead of plastic, as they hold their tuning better. If you would like to purchase the instrument we play in class, the exact model we purchased is the Mitchell MU40NT, purchased through Guitar Center.
