Students in Kindergarten and first grade have been very busy. We started the school year talking about firefighters and what they do to help us. In this unit students learned about the equipment that firefighters wear, the vehicles they drive and so much more. Once we completed that unit we moved on to improving our computer skills. Students have been going on the website typetastic where they work on locating keys getting use to using a mouse. At home if you have free time the children can go on the computer and keep working on typetastic . We also spent the month of October explore books about fall and even did some creepy tales. The students really enjoyed Creepy Carrots and the Creepy Crayon.

Students in all grades at BHS got a chance to enjoy the listening to Creepy Carrots and Creepy Crayon. In Creepy Carrots The Twilight Zone comes to the carrot patch in this clever story about a rabbit who fears his favorite treats are out to get him. One of the great themes of the story is how to solve a problem by thinking out of the box.
In Creepy Crayon Jasper is flunking everything except art and is desperate for help when he finds the crayon. “Purple. Pointy…perfect”—and alive. Jasper is only a little creeped out until the crayon changes his art—the one area where Jasper excels—into something better. As guilt-ridden Jasper receives accolade after accolade for grades and work that aren’t his, the crayon becomes more and more possessive of Jasper’s attention and affection, and it is only when Jasper cannot take it anymore that he discovers just what he’s gotten himself into.
