The past two months have been very busy in the library.  In January students in grades 3-4 spent time learning about how to code using the website code.org.  We also started to learn about researching online.  Students went through a series of lessons on how to search online.  Once these lessons were complete Students did research on a president and a US President using online websites.  These websites will come in handy as we moved towards our big research project. We have also spent a great deal of time practing our typing skills.  We use www.typing.com to practice.  Our goals for typing are 4th grade 20 wpm, 3rd 16 wpm & @nd grade is 12 wpm.

If they have time they can also practice at home.  We held a contest and the winners were 4th grade Mr. Messina's Class, 3rd Grade Ms. Ferreri's Class and in 2nd grade Mrs. Grabarz's Class.  We will be doing another contest shortly

March Madness

March Madness

March Book Madness is an online bracket-style tournament that matches books in one-on-one "games." The games will be decided by a simple vote on a Google Form (the forms do not collect any personal data). This tournament is modeled after March Madness in college basketball, it's a single-elimination tournament where books go head to head, with the winner of each matchup decided by kid votes. Winners advance until there is a champion.  Students can click on the image to the left to listen to the stories at home if they choose too.
