Bending

Bending occurs when a structural component is placed under an external load perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the component. Bending allows materials to have some give when placed under loads, and can be a positive or negative characteristic depending on the application of the material. Either way, it is important to be able to calculate the bending moments of materials for such applications.
