We will be reading authentic literature in a Reading Workshop type model. The Reading Workshop is a teaching method in which the goal is to teach students strategies for reading and comprehension. The workshop model allows teachers to differentiate and meet the needs of all their students. Reading Workshop helps to foster a love of reading and gives students chances to practice reading strategies independently and with guidance.
Reading Folders will go home on a daily basis. The books included will be books your child has already read. Familiar rereading helps build confidence, fluency, and understanding. Included may also be shared readings and poems.
Included in the folder are resources. Please use them but keep them in the folder. I will collect the completed reading logs and written responses. I am including the resources below.
