Chorus is graded mainly on participation. Each class, your student has the opportunity to earn 5 points. If your student maintains their class materials, participates in stretches and vocal warmups, and participates in song learning/rehearsal to the best of their ability, your student will earn all 5 points!
If your student is not earning their full points, you may wish to discuss with them if their behavior and participation is the best it can possibly be.
6th grade students will also earn points for concert attendance. If you have a major conflict (vacation, family emergency, etc) and are unable to attend the concert, please contact Mrs. West as soon as possible to work out an alternate assignment.

6th Grade Chorus Concert, 7:00PMFriday, May 8, 2026
HS Choir Concert (optional performance)6th Grade Chorus: Text @SAESchor6 to 81010 to join the group.
Students should wear “dressy" clothing to the concert. Dress pants, khakis, dresses, or skirts and a nice shirt are all acceptable. Please no jeans, athletic wear, or shorts. Ties are allowed but not necessary. Sneakers, boots, or dress shoes are all acceptable (no slippers, slides, or crocs!). I recommend flat shoes, as opposed to heeled shoes, for comfort on the risers.
As your student is dressing, be aware that the stage lights will get hot! It is a good idea to not bundle up too much.
All 6th grade chorus students must have the following paper signed and returned by September 5. The form can be submitted electronically via either email (westk@shalerarea.org) or the google form , or in school to Mrs. West.
