WorkAbility is committed to increasing the knowledge and understanding of the resources available to our adult students once they age out of our District's Adult Transition Program. In order to accomplish this, one major effort that WorkAbility has undertaken, along with other SELPA member districts, is the creation of the
Transition Services Taskforce
Founded in 2013, the initial and continuing purpose of the Transition Services Taskforce is to promote collaboration among transition agencies and services, school districts, families and employers.
The taskforce meets quarterly to educate and update members and to strategize the implementation of practices that will improve post-secondary outcomes for transition age youth. To this end, the taskforce has developed committees focused on transportation, business partnerships, post-secondary transition and competitive integrated employment (CIE).
The benefits of this collaboration are evidenced by increased stakeholder awareness of post-secondary options for transition aged youth, increased development of CIE placements and, when appropriate, early placement of students in supported employment opportunities.
Additional information about participating agencies and upcoming meeting dates can be found at the website for the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education.
Along with the TST, WorkAbility periodically sponsors District-wide information events. Information from past events can be found below.
