Workouts of the Day (WODs)
A dynamic part of our 8th-grade physical education program is student-designed Workouts of the Day (WODs). These creative, challenging, and fun workouts kick off each block period from Tuesday through Friday and give students a chance to start class with energy and purpose.
Most of this year’s WODs, done in the first semester, were designed by last year’s 8th-grade students. In the second semester, this year’s 8th graders will take the lead in designing their own WODs—applying what they’ve learned to create workouts that are meaningful and effective.
Most workouts are done individually, while others are partner- or group-based to promote teamwork and engagement. WODs are typically repeated later in the year so students can track their progress and see how far they’ve come.
