I believe that a good teacher is one who provides positive, inspired influence. I work hard every day to influence my students to love science and bring the best out in them with great wisdom and sensitivity to their needs. I am eager to bring students into the 21st century using a unique combination of education techniques coupled with two years’ laboratory background in chemistry. I can show students how and why the knowledge of science may be applied in numerous settings for personal success.
A wise sailor once said, “Unless one knows to which port they are sailing, no wind is the right wind.” This thought underscores the need for a clear vision for this unique teaching and learning opportunity; I have a definitive plan regarding how to implement my central vision and all activities that are a part of “The Mastery Grid" will create a “big picture” perspective that focuses on nothing less than content mastery. This “big picture” perspective also encompasses what is in the best interest of the children and parents we serve. As an effective Middle Grades Science Teacher, I will implement a plan that provides positive, inspired influence while attaining these “big picture” goals in a loving, caring and nurturing learning environment.

GETTING TO KNOW ME. I...
Hello all! I love teaching middle school ELA and have been teaching for 11 years.
I live in beautiful Savannah with my husband, Corey. Our family includes a 10 month-old named Rocco, a 3-year old Schnoodle named Maria, and a 15 year old terrier mix named Romeo. In my free time, I help coach junior roller derby and play for the Savannah team. I love animals, the beach, theatre, dance, Italian food, coffee, drawing, painting, skating, running, and being active! I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

I am graduate of Georgia Southern University and a certified ELA middle grades teacher. I am a mother to an energetic nine-year-old and a spirited four-year-old. I am a wife, daughter, and the friend who texts back two hours later. Sometimes two days.
I love the art of storytelling, be it poetry, prose, narratives, music, visual arts, graphic design, or film. I love examining structure and helping students the understand how to craft an argument, inform and persuade an audience, empowering their voice and encouraging critical thinking.
I take my classroom learning environment seriously and follow the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning; Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Creativity. In addition to the GaDOE standards I also utilize the ISTE standards to guide lesson planning and the incorporation of technology in the classroom.

I am married to a wonderful man named Joe, and we have a wonderful little boy named Landon and a precious girl named Brooklyn! I love shopping, sports, and spending time with my family. If I am not at home or shopping, I am most likely at the soccer fields. I really enjoy teaching. As much as I may impact the students' lives, they impact mine. Every student is unique and teaches me something. I am privileged to be teaching at Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts. I know this will be an awesome experience for myself, the students, and parents!
