Using Common App with SCOIR for Parents & Students

SCOIR is the program your school counselor uses to send electronic documents to schools and where students can search for and add colleges to apply to. Parents can search and add too!

LOOK AT YOUR DEADLINES for APPLICATIONS.

Transcript Release permission is granted when your parent (if you are under 18) signs the FERPA RELEASE on SCOIR. 

You must invite your parent using their email if they aren't already registered.

You must sync Scoir AND The Common App.  This will allow your counselor to see what you schools you intend to apply to.  FYI!!  Some schools, such as Endicott College, use an their own application.   **You will need to manual enter these colleges into Scoir! 

You will create an account in Common App, fill out the Education (your school) & Profile part and the FERPA waiver. 

Do not fill in the counselor or teacher's email address in Common App. We send everything through SCOIR. 

If you don’t remember how to sign in, just ask your school counselor.

In SCOIR, you can create a working list of colleges you are thinking about or applying to.

Letters of Recommendation - THESE CAN TAKE MORE THAN 2 WEEKS!!  ASK EARLY

SOME colleges may only want ONE letter so be very specific about where teachers send their letters. They will see a check off box, be sure you tell the right teacher where to send the letter if that college only allows one or two.

Look on Scoir & Common App to see what colleges need from you, teachers, and counselor.

Request your teacher's recommendations through Scoir's Application Documents (upper right on your screen).
