Diagram markings

When examining geometric diagrams, it is extremely important that you note that most diagrams are not drawn to scale. As such, it's important that you do not rely on visual cues to help you determine things like which segments are bigger or smaller, or which angles are congruent. You must rely on the markings/ labels present in the diagram because the markings/ labels help you to prove relationships between the segments of a geometric diagram and the angles of a geometric diagram. There are lots of geometric symbols that you must be familiar with. Some common symbols include congruent segment and angle symbols as well as right angle symbols.
