Map Match - see if you can identify the types of maps and the ways the maps are used.

Continents - place the continents - try once with the prime meridian and once with the equator

Continent Names - place the name of the continents in the correct place

Contour Mapping - complete the activity on this website

Elevation Profile Mapping & Great Circle Route - Move the map so you can see the entire USA (from east to west coasts). Select the 'Measure' tool. Then select ruler. Draw a line across the USA from the west coast to the east coast. Double click on at the end of your line. - WHAT HAPPENS to the line? What appears in the bottom of the screen? Move your mouse to the bottom screen and follow the elevation for the USA. Be sure to note the mountain ranges and the Mississippi River Valley.

Photo Explore - see if you can find the historical features. Think about how Humans Interacted with their Environment 100 years ago. Also, think about how primary sources are used!

Weather Phenomena & Natural Hazards - create a volcano, hurricane, earthquake, and tornado

Rain Shadow Animation - read (or have read to you) the animation for rain shadow effect

Map Projections - click on Expedition Hall Click to Explore. Then click on the World In Spatial Terms - Globe Projector (right side of screen top item). Then follow the directions to make different map projections.
