Hola Clase. Today is our last class until next year. I wanted to say Gracias to all of you for sharing your day with me. Hope you have had fun and learned new words in Spanish.  Hasta pronto,  nos vemos.  Please don't forget to practice what we have learned together and to say Hola when you see me in the hall.

Since today is our last class until next year we are going to play a matching game.

Hola Clase. Feliz A~no Nuevo. (Happy New Year!).Today we are going to learn the days of the week in Spanish. The week in Spanish speaking countries begins on Monday not on Sunday. Days of the week in Spanish are not capiltalized.  They are considered masculine so we always say the word el before the day.

Today we are going to listen to Twas Nochebuena- by Roseanne Greenfield Thong.

The book explores a Mexican family's Christmas eve traditions.  Pay attention to the things that they do that evening, the places they visit etc.  

We will explore the sequence of events that the book details.  Along with exploring the similarities between your traditions and the traditions detailed in the book.

Hola Clase. Today we are going to continue with our study of our polite words, Gracias, De Nada y Porf avor.  Also, we are going to learn the word salud.

When someone sneezes we say:

Salud – The literal meaning of salud is “health.”  This is used more extensively in Spanish-speaking countries than the English equivalent of “Bless you.”

When you sneeze and someone says salud, you should respond gracias.
