To our supportive parents and guardians, the Pupil Appraisal (PA) Department hopes this message finds you in good health and safety during this quarantine. As we transition learning environments from school to home, we want to express a sincere note of appreciation and thanks to you. We further appreciate your receptive spirit in assisting with your child’s continued education. PA staff are working to ensure that all students’ evaluations and reevaluations are completed. In the event that an evaluation currently is in process and cannot be completed due to the inability to conduct face-to-face assessments or observations of your child within the educational setting, the evaluation will be postponed until school resumes. Evaluation coordinators will be reaching out to you to provide information about the status of the evaluation as well as informing you if the evaluation has to be postponed until school resumes in the fall. PA staff are working with the special education teachers to ensure that the needs of the students currently in the evaluation process are being addressed during this time of distance and virtual learning. A waiver will be requested for students requiring a triennial evaluation between now and the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
Please feel free to contact the Evaluation Coordinator or the Pupil Appraisal Manager with any questions or concerns about an evaluation or any issues related to social/emotional or academic struggles your child may be experiencing during this difficult and uncertain time. Above all else, our priority is for the health of our students, staff, and community. Please know that our goal is to ensure that there is a continuity of services for your child. We are here to help in any way we can. Thank you again for being our partner in learning. Please let your child know we are proud of their efforts during this school closure and look forward to seeing them when school starts.
J. B. Lafargue will be open 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday through Friday. Please call or email me anytime if you have questions or need assistance related to evaluations or assessment concerns.
