College & Career Readiness

Whether you need a person or a website, there are many resources available as you consider going to college: your college support team, colleges you are considering, the federal government, your state government, or our list of resources below.

This year, Generation Texas will be promoting Virtual Decision Day events to adapt to the current COVID-19 climate. We encourage the Class of 2020 to virtually celebrate their accomplishments and decision to attend college in the fall. The date will not change, we will host GenTX Virtual Decision Day on May 1st. We are currently working with Reach Higher and the American College Application Campaign to put together a toolkit for you to use in setting up these virtual events. We expect to have the toolkit available at GenTX.org by April 2nd. Additional information on how to sign your school up for GenTX Virtual Decision Day will be forthcoming with the toolkit.

ADVi (short for “adviser”) is a chatbot, created by the THECB and The University of Texas at Austin, that is available 24/7 to answer college advising questions. When students chat with ADVi, they can get answers to questions about applying to college, financial aid, the FAFSA and TASFA, scholarships, and much more. During this unprecedented time, we’re working to make ADVi an even stronger tool for counselors who are supporting students remotely. We’ll be sending a more detailed update about ADVi soon – be on the lookout! In the meantime, check out www.askADVi.org to learn more.
