Dissection:
Students will be required to dissect. Using dissections gives the opportunity to show anatomical variations, anomalies and something very important: pathological findings, using this processes motivate the students to learn beyond Anatomy. Students specimen will be their first patient in their medical profession. And none of these findings can be reproduced in anatomical models.
A&P Notebooks
All students will be required to have a notebook- see notebook assignment page.
Anatomy & Physiology will challenge you so that you will be able to learn a great deal about human structure and function. Topics include anatomical structures, physiological systems, and body functions. Students will apply principles of physiology to human health and evaluate the application and career implications of physiology and anatomy principles. Anatomy and Physiology includes at least 40% hands-on laboratory investigation using appropriate scientific inquires.
Labs: 40%: Students will investigate topics related to both Anatomy & Physiology which will include dissection. Dissection is an intricate part of the Anatomy & Physiology class. ALL students will be required to dissect. No alternative assignments will be given. Students will be required to write detailed lab reports which will be written in the A&P notebook.
Assessments: 40% Assessments will include multiple choice and essay type questions. Projects and lab practical will also be included.
Daily Work: 20% Daily assignments include textbook assignments, worksheets, vocabulary, quizzes, class activities, notebooks, article summaries, and small projects.
Communication: All communication is through the MAP website. Student's are responsible for creating the account and checking periodically each week.
Make-up work, due to student absences, is the responsibility of the student. This includes but not limited to, obtaining assignments and completing missed class work, as well as scheduling missed laboratory work and tests. Missed work must be submitted in the appropriate amount of time determined by the instructor.
Tutorials will be held on Thursday mornings @ 8:30 AM
Specific assignments will be announced for that particular week.
1 block late: 70% max.
2+ blocks late: 50% max.
Electronic device policy will follow the RRISD guidlines.
COMPUTER USE:
During any type of assessment students MUST use a school issued Chromebook. No other device will be allowed for any type of assessment. Failure to have the proper device will result in a re-test.
