Course Overview:

Students will continue to improve their use of the English language in the following areas: reading, writing, listening, speaking, thinking, and oral and written conventions (grammar). Many assignments contain an opportunity for Talented and Gifted students to extend their learning through self-choice.

Expectations: In addition to following the school rules, I expect you to stay on the Jaguar PATH:

Be Productive

• Use your time wisely to work on assignments during class time.

• Have your work completed and turned in on time.

• Use extra time to read or work on another assignment.

Be Accepting

• Accept and respect each other’s differences.

• Stand up for others who are being treated unfairly.

• Be kind and understanding of each other’s feelings.

Be Trustworthy

• Treat the classroom environment and other people’s property with respect.

• When you borrow something, return it to its place or its owner.

• Complete your part of group work in a timely and quality manner.

Be Honorable

• Do the right thing even when no one else is looking.

• Don’t lie, cheat, or steal.

• Stand up for what is right.

Materials:

• You will need a computer with internet access and a set of headphones.

• In addition to having a self-selected novel available for SSR at all times throughout the school year, students will need to purchase their own copies of various novels for class study and annotation. New or clean, used copies are acceptable.

• Other supplies required are determined by individual projects throughout the year.

*If, for any reason, you are unable to provide your student with the necessary materials including books, binders, pens or pencils, please contact me for assistance. I never want a student to miss out on a learning opportunity due to a lack of funds.

Tutorials: You may request private or group tutorials which will take place via Google Meets.
