Realism

DEFINITION:

Realism Art was an artistic movement that began in France in the 1850s. It sought to portray real and typical contemporary people and situations with truth and accuracy The popularity of such "realistic" works grew with the introduction of photography—a new visual source that created a desire for people to produce representations which look objectively real.

Realism Art Realism is a type of art that shows things exactly as they appear in life (it looks real). It began in the 18th century, but the greatest Realist era was in the mid-19th century. Most Realists were from France, but there were some famous American painters who were Realists also.
