THIS WEEKS LESSON - Introduction Page

noun: the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books.

Graphic Design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas.

Common uses of graphic design include logos and branding; web sites, magazines, newspapers, and books; advertisements and product packaging. Graphic design is a part of daily life and is used for everything from gaming covers, to billboards and T-shirts.

About Adobe Illustrator

Students will be using Adobe Illustrator which is the industry standard, commercial software used by companies for print, multimedia and online graphics.

Programme Outline

Printed Graphics

The programme consists of approximately eight, 3 hour lessons per term consisting of:

*  One introduction lesson

* Three practical skills lessons - Name Design

*  Remaining lessons completing an Inquiry Learning project

-          pupils work independently at their own pace

-          students plan and create their designs based on their own ideas

-          students receive individual assessment marks for all activities

            -    the “Student Self-Assessment” page reflects the progress made

Why do Graphic Design?
