Homework policy:

Homework is an integral part of learning. Especially in language learning; the more practice you get, the better you will become in the language! Therefore, you should expect to receive homework most days. Homework will be posted in Google classroom and weekly on my website. All homework assignments and materials will be distributed to students at the end of class and/or will be posted on Google Classroom.

Homework is expected to be completed to the best of the student’s ability, prior to the start of the next class period. When reviewing homework during class, it is expected that students correct mistakes when necessary. It is also expected that the student engages in class discussions around homework assignments. I will instruct when and how to submit homework assignments. Incomplete homework assignments will receive partial credit. Students will be deducted points each day the assignment is late. Students cannot turn in homework several weeks later; Late work that is turned in more than 5 school days after a due date will not be accepted for credit (due dates may vary depending on absences). Students who are out for extended periods of time due to absence or family reasons should see me to develop a plan for owed work. The purpose of homework is to practice and review what was taught in class; not just for completion. Please schedule an appointment to meet with me or see me during intervention if you have any questions about the homework, I am always available!

Academic Integrity:

All assignments should be your own work. Your work should demonstrate your knowledge of the material presented in class, not the knowledge of another that's represented as your own. This is especially important while learning a foreign language. By completing your own work to the best of your ability, it will allow both you and your teacher to best determine what is understood and how to improve in order to ultimately be successful in the class and in your language learning. Naturally at times, class will be more collaborative while other times it will be more individual. Here is a quick guide on what types of collaboration is acceptable and unacceptable:

Acceptable Collaboration

Consequences for cheating and plagiarism are outlined in the student handbook page 108.

Make-up Work: Students who are absent from class are expected to make-up all schoolwork. Please speak with me to discuss what you have missed. Students have one day for each excused absence to make-up the assignment. For example, if a student is absent one day this student would have one day to make-up the assignment. The teacher will determine deadlines of assignments if a student is absent for 3 days or longer.

If you miss a quiz or test, you will need to make arrangements with me for a make-up. If quiz is not made up in a timely fashion, a zero will be entered until the test or quiz is made up. Please make it your responsibility to speak with me and if you have any questions or concerns; don't hesitate to contact me at any time.

Retake Policy: If a student scores below a 70% on a quiz, they will have the opportunity to retake it in order to improve their overall understanding and grade. Prior to retaking a quiz, students are required to come see me to review their prior quiz and gain an understanding of how to best prepare themselves for the retake. The original quiz grade will be averaged out with the retake score and this average will replace the students score in PowerSchool. Students will NOT have the opportunity to retake larger culminating assessments (like course exams), or re-do projects.

Extra Help: Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help. I am available during 8th period intervention. I am also available after school by appointment on (some) Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:20pm - 3:30pm. You may also email me with any of your questions or concerns. I will respond to you within 24 hours.
