MUSIC IN THE DAILY ROUTINE

Consistency in the PreK classroom helps young children maintain a relaxed, positive attitude toward learning. When teachers and caregivers make music a major part of a child's daily routine, the results are almost always positive!

Songs, chants, and movement activities are a great way to support the Daily Routine in your classroom. Having a repertoire of music materials that acknowledge individual students, encourage child-to-adult and child-to-child interactions, scaffold activities, and reinforce classroom expectations and routines will help foster a playful and positive learning environment. You can utilize the Daily Routine and Transition Lanyard Cards to begin your collection of songs and chants to incorporate into different parts of the Daily Routine and for transitions.

Consider mapping out your Daily Routine (check out the Sample Daily Routine link above) to see just how many opportunities for music-making exist in your school day.
