Who says the teacher does all of the talking?! ZZZ.... I am sure we all have felt bored out of our minds when we get stuck never participating!
As your teacher, I am going to be oh so kind and allow you to share my stage.
After all- sharing IS caring...
So far, there have been several projects that we have covered over the years
(keep in mind...each class is different!)
Bioethics unit: (NIH curriculum) Let's debate! We will look at the most recent changes in biology and technology and discuss key similarities and differences between ethics, law and science.
Chemical and Biological Weapons:
Students presented the effects of chemicals on the body and debated the ethics of warfare and the use of these weapons.
Body Systems:
Students selected their favorite body system and created presentations teaching the class about their system and a disease of that system.
Acid Rain Debate
Students were assigned roles within a community (town board, environmentalists, business people) and asked to research acid rain and its effects. Two "companies" then presented their ideas for building in this economically strained town. Each business group tried to sway the town board to select their company to help revitalize the town.
Building a Coral Reef
Students built several levels of a coral reef ecosystem using recycled materials and saw how their reef survived Mother nature.
