Extracurricular Tax Credit Information
It’s not too early to start thinking about your taxes for this year. Arizona tax law (ARS 43-1089.01) allows taxpayers a tax credit of up to $200 (or $400 per married couple) if they contribute to extracurricular activities in public schools. The tax credit is available to all State of Arizona tax payers, regardless of whether they have children in school. To participate, make your check out to the school to which you wish to donate and submit to the school office with the completed form. When you file your taxes, claim it as a state tax credit. The amount you donate will be subtracted from the amount of taxes you owe. Unlike a deduction, a tax credit is a full refund of your money. Share this information with friends, neighbors and rela-tives who pay Arizona state i ncome taxes. They, too, can support PVUSD schools with a tax credit donation and get a full refund of the amount donated while helping students.
Donations must be turned in to schools by December 18, or mailed-in donations must be postmarked by December 31 to receive the tax credit for the current year. For additional information or to download a form, see the district Web site at www.pvschools.net, or call (602) 449-2032 with questions.
