It is so exciting to be your child’s teacher this year. I would like to introduce myself by explaining how to pronounce my last name! Hopefully you have enjoyed reading it and it has made you think a little. My name is Karen Crapo and the “a” is pronounced with a long “a” sound (Rule 4, Spalding). Yes, I chose this name and have been married for 28 years. I grew up in Michigan but have lived in Scottsdale AZ for 20 years.
I received my undergraduate degree from Albion College, in Albion Michigan and my Masters Degree in Elementary/Special Education from Arizona State University. I have been involved in the Paradise Valley Unified School District for 19 years as a parent, volunteer, substitute teacher, and teacher. This is my 8th year at DSpES! I have three children. My oldest graduated from Horizon High school in 2015, my Alma Mater - Albion College in 2019 and is now attending Michigan State Law School. My middle child also graduated from Horizon High School in 2017 and graduated Lake Forest College 2021. The youngest graduated Horizon High School 2020 and is attending PVCC. I absolutely love supporting them, visiting them and watching them grow!
I hope that throughout the year we can work as a team to make this year as meaningful as possible for your child. Please look through this website, it is filled with information on expectations, rules, routines, links and is a work in progress. Please have patience as I try to keep it updated. Feel free to communicate with me at kacrapo@pvlearners.net or call 602-449- 7100 ext. 37114. I look forward to this new year, getting to know you and your child.
Sincerely,
Karen Crapo
