All About Mrs. Acosta
Welcome! I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year! My own children attended Grayhawk so I feel blessed to be teaching here in the community. I am originally from Oregon. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). I come from a family of teachers and have a passion for working with children. So, after many years in the business environment I went back to school to earn my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University.
My teaching philosophy comes from my belief that children learn best when they are actively engaged and have time to reflect on what they learn. Positive feedback and reinforcement are key essentials in your child's learning. Additionally, movement and humor are vital components to retention of information. So, we will have fun and laugh often! Finally, making mistakes is an important part of the learning process. This is going to be a year of growth and independence....we will embrace our mistakes as a necessary part of helping us grow (myself included!).
Lastly, family is very important to me. I am a mother to four amazing kids: Colton, Cooper, Caden and Kali. I enjoy being outdoors and keep busy attending my childrens’ sporting and other events. I love to read and always welcome good book suggestions! I look forward to getting to know you and your family. Thank you for sharing your child with me! We are going to have a great year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Acosta
