Music News

January, 2023

Hello Parents and Students,

This link called "Music News" will be the page in which you can check out the latest and greatest "goings on" in music class and chorus (for all of our 4th and 5th graders). I will update this page periodically and will break down our 'news' by grade level.

PLEASE NOTE: I would like to extend a warm invitation to all of our families ---- If there is anyone in your family who would like to share their musical talents whether it is with a musical instrument (voice included), dance, and/or if you would like to share the music of your culture, I would very much like to discuss this with you and arrange for a visit to our school for a presentation in your child's music class. Please let me know: jcaulfield@pthsd.net (Thanks!)

If you should ever need to reach me, please feel free to contact me via the e-mail address above.

Hope to see you soon!

Mr. Caulfield : )

"Mid-Year" Message ~ Hello Lake Par and Rockaway Meadow Students & Families,

I would like to begin by first saying that it is truly an honor and such a joy being your child's music teacher!

We are having a wonderful school year so far filled with music; singing, playing, dancing, learning, and growing!

In 4th and 5th music class, we are continuing our series called "Music Planet", where we have the opportunity to "travel" around the world! We are learning a great deal about the various people and their cultures...very interesting! Also, the students can try their skills at: "BUCKET DRUMMING"! Check out your class page on my website and give it a try.......I know you'll just love it! Also the 4th & 5th graders may check out the lyrics of "The Star Spangled Banner" on my website. We are learning the story behind who wrote it and under what circumstances it was written...very interesting!

The 3rd graders are doing wonderful work with their note-reading skills and playing their flutophones.....way to go girls and boys!

In 2nd grade, we are going to be making the transition from “Ta’s and Ti-Ti’s” to actual music notes like quarter and eighth notes! We will also be learning how to use those notes in a rhythm game called “Tic-Tac-Note”! Second graders are also encouraged to take a look at some of the exciting activities on my website. The link to my website is on our music Google Classroom.....have fun!

Kindergarten and 1st graders are enjoying learning about the guitar. We are getting to know our hello song and also how to sing our Do-Re-Mi Scale! We are excited to start learning more about beats as well as the various musical instruments! And I know the kids can not wait to explore "Mr. Caulfield's Musical Neighborhood" on the music website! Rhythm and melody games are always on the agenda as well; we just love coming to music class through Mr. Caulfield's Google Meets and his Music Website!

Please stay tuned for more updates as we continue to move through our school year together. Thanks, Mr. Caulfield : )
