Music News

March 2020

Hello Parents and Students,

We are having a wonderful school year filled with music; singing, playing, dancing, learning, and growing!

This link called "Music News" will be the page in which you can check out the latest and greatest "goings on" in music class and chorus (for all of our 4th and 5th graders). I will update this page periodically and will break down our 'news' by grade level.

PLEASE NOTE: I would like to extend a warm invitation to all of our families ---- If there is anyone in your family who would like to share their musical talents whether it is with a musical instrument (voice included), dance, and/or if you would like to share the music of your culture, I would very much like to discuss this with you and arrange for a visit to our school for a presentation in your child's music class. Please let me know: (Thanks!)

If you should ever need to reach me, please feel free to contact me via the e-mail address above.

Hope to see you soon!

Hello everyone,

In 4th and 5th grade, we are progressing wonderfully with our chorus selections and the children and I are starting to get excited to perform at our Spring Concerts. In music class, the 4th and 5th graders are discussing “Cool Careers in Music” and learning what a music therapist does. The 3rd graders are doing really wonderfully with their flutophones and are learning their notes and fingerings and we are making beautiful music together; can't wait for our concert in June! In 2nd grade, we have just made the transition from “Ta’s and Ti-Ti’s” to actual music notes like quarter and eighth notes; very exciting! We’re also learning how to use those notes in a rhythm game called “Tic-Tac-Note”! Kindergarten and 1st graders are dancing and singing in music class every week. And, we are also learning our Do-Re-Mi posters and how to arrange them in ascending and descending order. Rhythm and melody games are always on the agenda as well; we just love coming to music class!

Please stay tuned for more updates as we continue to move through our school year together. Thanks, Mr. Caulfield : )
