Kindergarten Identification

KONNECT is a kindergarten outreach program designed to identify students for the gifted program.

    • During the second semester, several whole-class lessons are taught collaboratively by gifted specialists and kindergarten teachers. Lessons focus on critical thinking and creative thinking.

    • Some students may participate in additional lessons in a small-group setting, facilitated by the gifted specialists. These lessons also focus on critical and creative thinking skills, as well as visual-spatial skills.

  • Based on data from these activities, as well as classroom teacher and parent recommendations, kindergarten students may be selected for referral and testing for the elementary gifted program.

    • Qualifying students would enter the elementary gifted program at the beginning of 1st grade.
