Kindergarten Identification
KONNECT is a kindergarten outreach program designed to identify students for the gifted program.
During the second semester, several whole-class lessons are taught collaboratively by gifted specialists and kindergarten teachers. Lessons focus on critical thinking and creative thinking.
Some students may participate in additional lessons in a small-group setting, facilitated by the gifted specialists. These lessons also focus on critical and creative thinking skills, as well as visual-spatial skills.
Based on data from these activities, as well as classroom teacher and parent recommendations, kindergarten students may be selected for referral and testing for the elementary gifted program.
Qualifying students would enter the elementary gifted program at the beginning of 1st grade.
