Studio Tour

Now, while it's quiet before class begins, take a peek inside our studio and find out how things work in our dance classes!

Welcome to Dance Class!!

Students enter the studio, remove their shoes and sit at their

number spots on our sprung wood floor.

We use folders to store our choreography notes, rubrics and tests.

Our word wall fosters the development of dance vocabulary and supports the students in writing tasks.

Students are assessed frequently and have individual performance or choreography goals

that change throughout the school year. Benchmarks are both created by the students

and in reference to the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance.

Anchor charts, rubrics, and checklists are posted throughout the studio

to support students' conceptual understanding.

Peer-peer feedback (as well as teacher-student feedback) are essential elements of growing

good dancers and choreographers. We use these protocols to keep our critiques focused and supportive.

...and of course we all need a little music!

And finally, on their way out of class, students take a minute to reflect on how they performed in class.

They tap the color that best represents how they feel about their work on that day.

How did YOU do today??

Thanks for visiting our studio.

PS 170 students love to dance!
