Junior/Senior Music Electives

Providence Academy Juniors and Seniors have the option to pick their own elective classes and a teacher to teach it. In the past, students have chosen anything from a Vocal recital to Choral Conducting, to Advanced Music Theory.

The requirements for a Vocal recital class include a minimum of:

  • Study of 2-3 songs per trimester (at least 1-2 in a foreign language)
  • study of vocal pedagogy terms
  • translations of foreign language songs
  • study of the style and history of selected songs

The class also involves the presentation of a recital at the end of the trimester, to be scheduled before an audience and open to the school community.

The requirements for Choral Conducting include a minimum of:

  • Study of conducting pedagogy and techniques
  • Ear training practice
  • Classroom management practice
  • Choosing and teaching select songs to the Treble Choir (5-6th grade).

Please see Mrs. Smith for more information on these opportunities.
