What is a PIN?

You can use your U.S. Department of Education PIN to electronically sign your online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA on the Web is the U.S. Department of Education’s official electronic application for federal student aid.

1) Before you begin FAFSA on the Web, visit www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a PIN. If you are dependent student, your parents should also apply for a PIN so they can electronically sign your FAFSA.

2) To apply for a PIN, just fill in some identifying information.

3) An e-mail will be sent to you in 1 to 3 days with your PIN.

How Can I Use My PIN Online?

· Sign your FAFSA on the Web electronically.

· Review and correct answers on you electronic Student Aid Report (SAR)

· Print a copy of your SAR.

· Electronically sign loan promissory notes.

· Reapply for student aid every year you are in school.

· View information about federal loans and grants you’ve received.
