Carnegie Hall Performance Hall of Fame
The world’s renowned stages demand the world’s best performers. The Honors Performance Series assembles some of the world’s rising young musicians to perform under the baton of master conductors at two of the world’s most celebrated concert halls: Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House.
The Honors Performance Series features the opportunity for selected musicians to come together for several days of rehearsals leading up to a life-changing performance. Though much of performers’ time is focused on performance preparation with their conductor, networking with peers and experiencing the sights and performance arts of New York City are also important parts of the experience.
Working with world-class conductors is an important component of the Honors Performance Series. Students work with an annually rotating group of acclaimed Honors Conductors.
Participation in the Honors Performance Series is through music professional nomination and audition only. Each of my students spent additional time outside the regular choir rehearsal learning music for their audition recording. Recordings were submitted in December and results posted in March. This year4 students from Willowcreek were selected. Willowcreek Middle School has sent performers for the last several years. This year the students stayed and rehearsed at New York Hilton Midtown. They visited several sites in Midtown including, Central Park, the Carnegie Hall Museum, Radio City Music Hall and Ellen’s Stardust Diner!
