Welcome Letter!

August 1, 2021

Dear New 5th Grade Student,

Welcome to Room 64! I am so happy to have you in class. It is already that time of year to start thinking about your new teacher and classmates. I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to tell me all about your fun activities. I was busy planning your year in 5th grade and reading many great books. 5th grade is going to be an amazing year and I look forward to meeting you on the first day of school. There are many exciting activities, programs, and our very own Classroom Constitution based on our School motto R.O.A.R.S., field trips and special 5th grade activities.

We have a some exciting activities and fun field trips in 5th grade and I thought I would tell you about those first. First we go to Sloper's Day Camp in Southington for Team building fun. The permission slip is enclosed in this letter and due the first few days of school. In the spring, we will plan a trip to Sturbridge Village to learn all about Colonial America.

In 5th grade the homework and reading expectations are listed on my website and I encourage you to take a peek and wander around my site to see our schedule, expectations, and specials. I hope you take a few moments to read over your class responsibilities and pay particular attention to your homework expectations. We keep reading logs in our room to keep track of your daily reading as well as a homework chart. Students who complete all their assignments for a month earn a free homework pass for one night.

In most subjects areas you will be required to write responses in school journals or create a computer printout. I am most excited about working on the Chromebooks and developing projects based on our learning. I am sure you will as well.

This year you will have the opportunity to sign up to take instruments lessons and perform in the band. As you remember from 4th grade, the 5th grade band was very large and played quite well. I hope you sign up because it is a great way to meet new friends and learn how to read music. We will also take part in D.A.R.E. with Officer Noble.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me at anytime. I look forward to meeting you and being your 5th grade teacher!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fabrizio
