When and How can I take my GED Exam?
If you would like to take the GED Exam in person at the Schott Campus GED testing center:
The GED Testing Center at the Schott Campus is OPEN!
Testing will take place every other Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at the Schott Campus.
Fridays: 4:30pm - 8:30pm
Saturdays: 8:30am - 12:30pm
Be sure to log into ged.com well ahead of time to sign up and pay for the test
Read the rules carefully -- they'll tell you what form of ID to bring, how early to show up, etc.
It's a good idea to check your email , ged.com messages, and phone messages before you come in case there are updates.
In the meantime, you can take practices tests both on paper and online. Ask your instructor.
If you would like to take a GED Exam with an online proctor:
Testing with an online proctor means you log into a special testing session and take the test at home while a test proctor is logged in at the same time to make sure you follow the testing rules.
If you do not have a good computer for the online proctored GED Test, we can loan you one that is specially set up for GED Testing. Ask your instructor for details .
See the details below for what you need to do in order to take the test online.
Taking the Online Proctored GED Test
(Accordinng to the GED Testing Services Website 8/25/2020)
Step 1: Get a "Green (passing) Score" of at least 145 on the GED Ready Test
You need to FIRST take the GED Ready practice test in the subject area you wish to test in AND get a "Green (passing) Score" on that test. Be sure to follow the next steps as soon as possible because you will need to take the official GED test (the one that counts toward your GED certificate) within 60 days of getting a Green passing score on the GED Ready test.
You can take the GED Ready practice test as many times as you need until you pass. Once you do pass you will become eligible for online testing.
Step 2: Keep checking your GED.COM account for an alert/notification
After you get that "Green Score" on your GED Ready practice test for a particular subject, GED Testing Services will send an alert to your GED.com account with a notification that you can take the test online for that subject.
-- It may take a while for you to receive the notification, so keep checking
-- If you don't get an alert, you can email help@ged.com and they can further assist you.
Step 3: The Notification should have specific instructions about the ONLINE test
The notification will tell you how to schedule a test at at time that is convenient for you.
It may also have information about how to pay for the exam and how to make sure that your computer and home environment meet the online testing requirements.
From what I understand, well before you take the test, you will have to run a "System Check" to make sure your computer and camera are usable. You can actually test your computer now, if you want (see the link below)
You’ll need a computer, webcam and reliable internet — no tablets or phones. If you do not have one, we may be able to lend you one.
You’ll need to take your test in a private room with a closed door.
Before scheduling and paying for the test, it’s important to run a system check to be sure that your computer meets the requirements.

Note that you won't be allowed to use paper (scratch paper), but you will have an online "scratch pad" so it's a good idea to get used to how to use that before you take the test.
Here is a link to a sample scratchpad. It's probably a good idea to get some practice using it BEFORE you take the tests:
