What to expect about the TIMING of the three parts of the RLA Test:
Part 1: Reading and Answering Questions (30 minutes)
This first part will end when time is up (or, if you finish early, when you click the submit button), then Part 2 will start up right away. If you finish Part 1 early, that does NOT mean you get extra time for Part 2.
Part 2: The Essay (45 minutes)
You will see two articles with different views on a topic OR maybe one article that talks about two views ("supporters" and "opponents") the writing prompt will ask you which argument you thought was better supported.
Be sure to READ (about 5-10 minutes), then PLAN your essay (about 5 minutes), then WRITE your essay (about 20-30 minutes) and then REVIEW it (about 5 minutes)
This second part will end when time is up (or, if you finish early, when you click the submit button), then you will have a 10 minute break.
Part 5: Reading and Answering Questions (60 minutes)
Just like the first part, you will read long and short passages and be asked questions.
The total test time is 2 hours
