Philosophy
The Penn High School Strength Program Philosophy is simple. We must first and most importantly take a TEAM FIRST approach to how we train the athletes. With the amount of athletes playing multiple sports and the scheduling and other factors limiting how the weight room must be utilized, it is extremely important that the coaches and athletes be on the SAME PAGE. Once that is established the actual strength program has 5 goals:
INJURY PREVENTION
ATHLETS MUST BE ABLE TO MOVE IN MULTIPLE PLANES
DEVELOP STRENGTH
DEVELOP OVERALL POWER INCLUDING SPEED
CREATE “TEAM PRIDE” AMONG ALL ATHLETES
If these 5 goals can be established, understood, and developed then the Penn Strength Program can be and will be effective. It can take one coach, one athlete, or one outside factor to open a flood gate of negativity that may ultimately hurt “The Program”, and that is why we must first maintain team work not only among the athletes, but among the leaders leading the athletes.
