This course is a culturally based study of selected world regions that utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the ways of life of these lands. Through this analysis, students will examine those elements of culture that are necessary to comprehend diverse societies in their historical context and contemporary forms. All tenth grade students of Global Studies will be required to study the following areas: African Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies and Middle Eastern Studies.

Units of study include:

  • African Studies

  • Asian Studies

  • Middle East Studies

  • Latin American Studies


*Students may choose to take AP European History in the place of Global Studies in their sophomore year.

The textbook used for Academic Global Studies is Prentice Hall's 2004 World Cultures: A Global Mosaic, which is available in hard copy only.

The textbook used for Honors Global Studies is Cengage's 2008 Societies, Networks, and Transitions, which is available in hard copy only.
