Upcoming Dates for 2024-2025
TNReady Testing - April 14, 15, and 16
All second grade students will take the TNReady second grade tests. It is very important that students are to school on time. The classrooms open at 7:45 a.m. each morning. If your child is eating breakfast in the cafeteria, please have them here before 7:45 a.m. if possible.
Teachers will be sending TNReady snack notes in Tuesday folders asking for healthy snack donations for TNReady breaks.
Easter Egg Hunts - Thursday, April 17
Each teacher will be sending their egg hunt information in Tuesday folders.
Snacks
Please pack a healthy snack for your child each day. Please do not send chocolate, chips, candy, cake, cookies, donuts, or other dessert type items.
Water Bottles
Please send your child to school with a pop-top water bottle each day filled with water only. Do NOT put anything other than water in your child's water bottle.
Lunch Money
If your child needs to deposit lunch money in his/her account, they may take it to the cafeteria before coming to the classroom or take it when they go to lunch. You may also deposit lunch money online into your child's account.
Pick-Up Procedures
Pick-up time is from 3:00 - 3:25. Please be on time. If you arrive after 3:25, you are late picking up your child.
Please help Capshaw ensure the safety of all students being picked-up by following the procedures in the parent handbook that each student will be given on the first day of school.
Each family will be provided with 2 car tags at the beginning of the year. Additional car tags may be purchased in the office for $3.
The person picking up the student must show a car tag with all student's names on the tag who are being picked up. This applies to both the kindergarten and front of building car lines. Parents may NOT park and walk up to the door for pick-up this year.
If you do not have a car tag to pick up your child, we respectfully ask that you park and go inside the office. You will receive a slip of paper that you will give to the teacher on duty. This paper will allow the teacher to release the child to you.
Tuesday Folders
Please look at your child's Tuesday folder on Tuesday night each week. We encourage you to celebrate all of your child's achievements from the previous week. Please go over any concepts that your child did not fully understand the previous week. Be sure to sign any papers that are marked as "N" or "U" and return the signed papers in the Monday folder to school on Wednesday. Also, please sign the signature page in the back pocket of the folder each week.
Volunteer Security Form
You will need to complete your Volunteer Security Form before helping in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, etc. These forms will be available from your child's teacher.
Birthdays
If you wish to send in a treat for your child's birthday, please arrange this in advance with your child's teacher. Any food that is sent in must be purchased and prepared at either a grocery store or a restaurant. We are not allowed to serve food that has been prepared in anyway at your home per county policy.
Party Invitations
In an effort to "treat others the way we want to be treated," we are asking that you or your children do NOT pass out party invitations through the classroom unless you have an invitation for every girl or every boy in the class. It is very hurtful to children see others receive an invitation and others in the classroom not receive an invitation. Thank you for your cooperation.
Special Events
Please let us know if your child is performing in a special event, playing on a sports team, or has another special event happening in their life. We love hearing about and encouraging our Capshaw children in their extra-curricular activities.
PERFECT ATTENDANCE: Absences, Tardies, and Early Dismissals
Students are allowed to go to their classrooms at 7:45 a.m. They will be considered tardy after 8 a.m. Schools will be dismissed at 3 p.m. Any absences, tardies, or early dismissals will disqualify students from having perfect attendance for the 9 weeks.
Snow Days, Rain Days, Redbird, and Amplify
Snow days are excellent days to work on Redbird math and Amplify language arts.
Change in Address, Phone, or Emergency Contacts
Please notify the front office and your child's teacher of any changes in address, phone, emergency contacts, etc. We want to make sure our records are as up-to-date as possible.
Wilson County Student Bank at Capshaw - This will be new this year.
You must sign the paperwork with Wilson County Bank to get the account started.
Deposits may be made at Capshaw on a set day that Wilson County Bank will be at school.
Jackets & Coats
Temperatures vary per classroom. If your child gets cold easily, please send a light jacket in their backpack that they can put on during the day. Please check the weather each day and send your child in the appropriate weight coat for the weather. Be sure to write your child's name in his or her coat in case the coat is lost.
