My name is Toncha Barber and I am proud to say I have always been a gator! I graduated from high school in 2005 after a wonderful elementary and high school experience in the Port Allegany School District. After high school, I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a dual cert. in Early Childhood Education from Mansfield University in 2009, a Master's Degree in Teaching Reading from Edinboro University in 2014, and a Master's Degree in Instructional Media with a Pennsylvania STEM endorsement through Wilkes University in 2020.
I have been teaching full time for the past 14 years. And I have now officially spent over half my career as the PAES Smart Lab Facilitator! Prior to this position, I spent time in Kindergarten and 5th Grade. I enjoy all things technology. The world around us is changing so rapidly and I love trying to keep up. I have always incorporated technology into my teaching whenever possible, so I am more than eager to facilitate in a classroom completely focused on technology and the digital arts. We have so many wonderful opportunities to look forward to this year.
When I am not teaching, I dedicate myself to my most important roles in life, being a mom and wife! My husband Wade and I were married in 2011. He is an electrician in Coudersport and an avid snowmobiler. We have one daughter, Blair and one son, Brax and we enjoy watching them participate and compete in all their various activities! They bring so much joy to our lives! We enjoy volunteering in our community through scouts and sports. When there is spare time, we enjoy being outdoors, camping, and traveling!
