If tablets are not available, Chromebooks along with the Chrome Blockly App control the Sphero with the browser.
The Sphero Kit:
4 Sphero robotic balls, 4 Nexus 7 tablets, 1 hot pink power strip, 1 USB hub for charging tablets, 4 tablet charging cords, 4 Sphero charging cords, 4 Sphero charging base, 4 ramp sets and trick stands.
There are 5 education related apps available to control Sphero: Sphero - This is the main Sphero app used for firmware updates and general driving. Draw and Drive - Allows you to draw a shape with multiple colors and have Sphero roll in that shape and color. SPRK - Utilizes block-based programming, this app will inspire coding and STEAM principles. MacroLab - Creates simple programs (“macros”) that are a series of instructions for the Sphero. OrbBasic - Creates more complex programs using a text-based programming language.
It takes about 3 hours to fully charge Sphero. Single charge battery life is around 1 hour of continuous use.
Recommended for age 8 and up
